Updated Metric UX

We gave the metric section a refresh and update. The improvements will make it easier to search, sort, categorize and create new metrics for both investors and companies alike.

For Investors

Portfolio Company metrics now live in the Metrics tab and are called Portfolio Metrics. They behave exactly the same as they did before but it is not easier to navigate to all metrics, search individual companies, and more!

For Companies

The major addition for companies is the ability to view all of your metrics in the same tab.

We also moved the "+New data source" button to the top right of All metrics to be more uniform and consistent with the entire application experience.

Refreshing integrations if far more obvious now as well!

Request Improvements: Choose Sender & Notification Recipients

Investors are now able to select who the request will come from at your firm. Before this change it defaulted to whoever created the request within Visible.

Investors can now also select specific users in their firm to be notified when a request is completed. Prior to this improvement, notifications would be sent to all admins.

Portfolio Metric Formulas

Investors can now create calculations directly in app and across the portfolio with the formula builder.

This helps reduce the portfolio company reporting burden and will also give you the chance to create deeper insights.

Metric insights are supported in the formula builder as well. The above example is taking cash burn and applying the 3 month average insight. This helps remove any lumpiness that might exist in month to month cashflow to give a better barometer for months of runway.

Tear Sheets

Investors now have the ability to create Tear Sheets for their portfolio. Think of these as one-pagers that can be fully automated across the portfolio. Great for regular portfolio review meetings as well as LP reporting.

Read more in the official announcement here

You'll be able to build as many tear sheet templates as you'd like. All pages are exportable to PDF and designed to fit on an A4 page.

Each template will generate tear sheets for respective portfolio companies and you'll be able to make any specific customizations on a per portfolio company basis.

Visible Connect

Visible Connect is our curated investor database and now live. Read the full announcement on our blog

An example of some of the queries a founder can perform:

  • much more!

Audit & Change Log

We now expose an audit log of how data values of metrics change. When you click the change log icon we will expose:

  • The name of the user who changed the date or if the data came via a request and link directly to the request of the company
  • The previous value
  • The data the value was change as well as time

Data trends in completed requests

Investors, when you viewing a completed request you can now quickly get a trend view of any metric.

Just click the chart icon and we will display up to 12 recent data points through a column chart data visualization.

Dependent Metrics

Dependent Metrics allow for an investor to nest forecasts, budgets and re-forecasts for any of their portfolio metrics.

Dependent metrics will help create reports, variance metrics and more even faster.

New Metric Insights

We launched new insights for any of your metrics in Visible. We now help calculate:

  • Previous period change (great for finding the change between balances. e.g Cash in Bank paired up with previous period change gives you change in cash)
  • Trailing 3, 4, 6 and 12 periods

These new insights are supported in the formula builder, metric alerts and soon to be in the chart builder as well.
