Metric Alerts

Metrics Alerts were just launched into the investor platform. Metric alerts will allow a user to customize alerts and receive email notifications as portfolio metric data changes.

You'll be able to set alerts based on three criteria:

  • Percentage. e.g. a metric changing by a certain % each period
  • Fixed Number. e.g. Runway is less than 4 months or ARR is > $1M
  • Another metric. e.g. Burn is greater than forecast

We'll batch notifications every 10 minutes as well as let you customize which users should receive the notifications via email. A full log of historical alerts is available in the application as well.

Request Previewing

Investors are now able to preview any request. This includes both the link of the request as well as the email that the company will receive.

This is especially useful if you are customizing KPIs on a per portfolio company basis.

Improved Metric Selector

We recently made an improvement to our chart builder! You can now filter and select metrics by datasource when creating charts. No more scrolling through countless metrics.

Check it out here:

You'll also see the improved metric selector when creating formulas and variance reports.

For Visible for Investor users, this means that you'll be able to pick metrics based on portfolio companies as well!

Greater Chart Legend Control

We just launched two great additions to give you greater control over your chart legends.

Completely Remove Chart Legend

We recommend using this if you have enough context in the chart title and want to share without a legend. It is also great if you have many metrics on a chart and viewing live in the app or dashboard where you can hover over the data.

Change Metric Names at the Chart Level

Want to change the name of a specific metric on the chart legend but not change the metric name entirely? You can now change the metric name at the chart level!

QBO Cash vs Accrual

We now sync your QuickBooks Online data based on your default method in QuickBooks. This means that we now support cash accounting reports!

Contacts & Activity Log

Portfolio company point of contacts are now directly integrate with master Contacts.

With this change, you'll now have an activity log for each of your portfolio contacts. If you have your Home Activity feed enabled you'll start to see events similar to:

On the contact card itself you'll see any associated companies the contact is attached to (for most contacts it is just one company) and their historical activity feed.

Portfolio Company Excel Data Exports

Export portfolio company metrics with the click of a button. From the profile page go to:

Metrics -> Export Metrics. We'll generate a download link that that is valid for 30 mins.

Note: Depending on the amount of data it may take a coupe seconds to generate the file.

Once downloaded, the Excel file will contain one tab per time frequency of metrics assigned to the portfolio company.

Aggregated Portfolio Metric Totals

We just launched aggregated value portfolio company metrics. With the flip of a switch we'll automatically calculate values over time for any of your company metrics & KPIs.

Here is a quick video providing an overview:

To create a sum of any metric just navigate to the settings page and toggle on "Sum portfolio total"

We'll auto-create a table so you can see the respective values for the past six periods for all companies as well as the total value. This will allow you to quickly spot where any irregularities in the data could exist and/or which companies may be missing values.

e.g. in the example below Visible's headcount for Jan 2020 may need to be adjusted.

Aggregated metrics can be used in any of your charts and dashboards. We also created a new section titled "Portfolio Metrics" in your metric settings.

New Request Types - Dates & Booleans

Requests can now include dates and yes/no questions. These are great for gathering more structured data from your portfolio companies.

We also gave the Request editor a facelift and improved some UX/UI to make it easier to build requests.

  • Dates: Great for Cash Out Date, Expected Next Raise, Last Time Raised
  • Yes/No: Great for structured questions. e.g. "Do you have D&O Insurance?", "Do you have an underrepresented member on your board?"
